The Perfect Storm - 2011 Weddings

Two Thousand and Eleven Weddings

Bookings for 2011 are 200% higher than bookings for 2010 were at this time 2009! Next year appears to be one that will be challenging for Brides to find quality Providers.

In the past 2 years, we have seen an explosion of novice Photographers enter the World of providing Professional Services for Weddings and Special Events. In 2007, there were 35 "Professionals" in our immediate area. In 2009, it exploded to over 300! This was due to many loosing their real jobs and trying to make a quick buck at the expense of Brides.

What happened was that Brides took 2009 and 2010 off, and postponed their Weddings until better economic times. As a result, Many of the would be Photographers made no money, and had to sell their gear and look elsewhere for the quick buck. We are now at around 100 Photographers in the area, and that number gets lower each day!

We have been in this business for over 15 years, and have never seen better bookings for any one year before! 2011 and 2012 requested have been off the charts! Brides who put off their Weddings are now ready to jump into preparations and plan a Wedding for 2011 or 2012.

This explosion of available Brides, in conjunction with lower numbers of available Photographers, has created THE PERFECT STORM for Brides!

Brides who do not find a quality Professional early will be left with the bottom of the barrel. They will be forced to hire one of the individuals that started their business in the past 2 years who did so just to make a buck . . . somehow. What this Bride will receive is low quality of service, low quality of photographs and an individual who does not have the expertise of providing Wedding Photography and Videography!

HAVE NO FEAR! The best way to combat this perfect storm is to do your grunt work EARLY in the planning process. We book our Clients from 6-12 months out from the Wedding date. So we recommend that Brides search for quality Professionals within 6-15 months from the Wedding. The farther out the Wedding is will give you the better pick of the litter!

What do you look for in a Professional? We are Naples Videography and Photography. We provide Wedding services all over the United States. If your Photographer can travel it means that they are serious about what they do! We have a Photography Studio that we work out of, it gives us a face in the Community and offers you peace of mind in booking with us! and lastly, how many Weddings do they do per year? We book 50 Weddings per year, as a Husband/Wife team we are the hardest Working Photographers in this area! If your Photographer does only a few, it would mean that they are not in high demand, and should present a red flag for you! Come to our Studio and say "Hi" to us!

Of course you have to like the portfolio of the Professional you choose, but ask them if the photos that you are previewing are from them at REAL weddings or if they are just shoots done to look like real work! This is a Wedding Photographers secret, that we do not participate in! When we show our samples, we show real Wedding Photos, not ones that we shot in a controled shoot with a hired model! And what about Pricing? Our Price range is $750-3500. Most quality Photographers charge at least $1500 for Wedding services, unless they are running a special. Good rule of thumb is to set aside at least $1500-3000 for Photography. You will thank yourself after the Wedding that you did!

Your wedding flowers should not just sit in the background, but be a lively part of your ceremony and reception. Hiring a professional to help you determine the best look for your ceremony is the best choice.

Hiring a Florist
Meeting with a florist or floral design specialist is an easy solution to navigating the wide world of flowers. Though you likely won’t be ordering your wedding flowers for a few months before the ceremony, you should get an early start in finding a florist, as they often get booked a year in advance (like the photographers do). A florist can help you determine what type of bouquet you want to have, as well as the color and style that coordinates best with your wedding ceremony.

Remember the Details
As you choose your wedding flowers, keep in mind details like your wedding location. Also remember how your chosen wedding flowers will look on you. Brides with a smaller figure should chose arrangements that are similarly petite so they don’t get overwhelmed, as taller brides can go for a bouquet that is a little more substantial.

Flowers make a special wedding that much more memorable. Choose arrangements that complement the ceremony without stealing the spotlight. Remember that the wedding photographer won’t just be taking pictures of you and your spouse, but the scenery overall – including your floral arrangements.

You have the perfect partner who proposed in the perfect way, and now the perfect day awaits. Whether you’re planning a small, intimate affair or the wedding of the century, careful planning is crucial to success. To avoid the hassles of wedding planning, some opt to hire a professional; however, if you plan to do it yourself, the stress and anxiety can be eradicated with careful preparation, plenty of time and attention to detail.

Don’t Procrastinate on Planning
The first step in wedding planning is to hit the ground running – don’t wait until just a few months before your wedding day to start planning. After announcing your engagement to family and friends, start putting the wheels in motion. Buy a calendar that will be used solely for wedding planning, and note milestones and goals that you want to have reached by certain dates.

Teamwork Works Best
Communicate with your future spouse and plan together. Set aside a night or two each week to focus on wedding planning. Both of you should discuss your ideal wedding and what it would look like. There are so many tiny details that go into wedding planning, so it’s best to have “two heads” instead of one. Don’t forget to compromise on ideas, but keep the overall theme cohesive. Also remember to share the duties of wedding planning so neither one of you gets too overwhelmed.

Keep In Touch
Depending on the size, your wedding may or may not require you to contract with several different vendors – florists, caterers, musicians, photographer and more – and you’ll need to stay in constant contact with them over the course of your wedding planning. Keep a list of your vendors’ contact information handy so you can quickly get in touch with them if last-minute changes arise. You’ll also be interviewing vendors before you settle on a match, so be sure to make a list of pros and cons for each when you meet with them.

Stay Positive
The end goal is perhaps most the important thing to remember over the course of wedding planning. This is a joyous and momentous occasion that you and your partner are working towards, so don’t let the stress overwhelm you! If you need to take a week or two off from wedding planning, do so and return with a fresh mind and a renewed spirit.
